This last Saturday I had the fun and privilege of going to Boomeria  for the annual Christmas Carols sing along. Here is an abbreviated history of Boomeria.  Boomeria was founded by PQ Boomer.  It is a land with a working four story castle, guillotine, stocks, chapel, and home made pipe organ. Each Christmas, the grounds are opened to kids of all sizes whether to get lost in the catacombs or sing Christmas carols with  Bill Visscher at the keyboards.

The pipe organ and chapel make for a wonderful setting particularly for studying lines and repeating patterns.

In a somewhat mechanistic sense, sets of lines define surfaces which in turn define shapes.

Lines defining surfaces giving shape

One of the key measurements of a graphics card on a computer is how many triangles it can render. The closed triangle defining a surface that is part of a larger object.  Repeating parallel lines provide a sense of depth.  All of these concepts are obvious in the chapel with the pipe organ.
Repeating objects or patterns, wires, organ keys, organ stops tend to add a richness to the photos.

Boomeria has its challenges like lighting, but it also holds a tremendous richness in photos.  As you contemplate these photos and the repeating patterns and lines, what works, and what does not work?  How can you add repeating patterns to your own work?
